Melinda Young is a visual artist and craftsperson living and making on Dharawal Country, NSW. Her practice spans jewellery, textiles, and interactive public art projects. She has a Master of Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts and is currently undertaking a cross-disciplinary PhD in Human Geography and Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong.  

Melinda has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally since 1997, recently she was a finalist in the Sydney Living Museums Meroogal Women’s Art Prize and her work was Highly Commended in both the Profile Jewellery Award exhibition at Australian Design Centre, and The Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize at the South Australian Museum.

Her work is held in public collections and included in numerous publications. Alongside her making practice, Melinda has spent the past 22 years working within the contemporary craft sector as an educator, curator, gallery manager and sometime writer. Melinda is currently an Associate Lecturer in the School of Art & Design, Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture UNSW.
